Accessibility statement
Draft for review by a lawyer. Not in force yet. Last updated: 12 October 2026.
Astrolinks wants the app, the Team inbox and our website to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, or reduced motion. In this statement, "Astrolinks" and "we" mean the company, and "the app" means the software.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, from the World Wide Web Consortium, in the app's windows, the Team inbox and the website. We have not had an independent audit yet, so we don't claim that we meet it.
What we have done
- Easy to read. Every window uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface made by the Braille Institute for people with low vision.
- Contrast. Text colours were checked against WCAG AA (4.5 to 1) on every surface they sit on, in light and dark appearance.
- Not colour alone. The dots in the day view are told apart by shape as well as colour.
- Keyboard. Menus, today's log, the client menu, the summary and Settings work from the keyboard, with a visible focus ring. Dragging report sections has arrow buttons that do the same.
- Screen readers. Controls have labels, and changes the app makes (a report written, an entry deleted) are announced.
- Less motion. When your computer is set to reduce motion, the app's animations stop.
- Plain words. The app speaks in short sentences, and error messages say what to do next.
- Big enough to hit. Buttons and links are at least 24 by 24 pixels, or have that much room around them.
- Zoom. Every window still works at 200% zoom: narrow windows rearrange into one column instead of cutting words off.
- Clear edges. Text fields and the report box have edges with at least 3 to 1 contrast.
- Your keyboard. Shortcuts are shown the way your computer writes them (Ctrl+Enter on Windows, ⌘↵ on a Mac), and the words don't assume a Mac.
What doesn't work well yet
- The day view's tooltip appears only with a pointer. The same numbers are on the hour buttons and in the timeline, which work from the keyboard.
- Times are always shown on a 24-hour clock.
- The bundled typefaces cover Latin letters. Window titles in other scripts use the system font.
- The mic button uses Apple's Dictation on a Mac, which must be turned on in System Settings. On Windows, use Windows dictation (Windows key and H) in any text field.
- The Windows version has not been tested with Narrator or NVDA so far.
- The Team inbox has not been tested with a screen reader so far.
- The quick note window has a fixed size, so at 200% zoom it scrolls.
How we test
The app's own window checks (run on GitHub for every change and before each Mac release) look at each window in light and dark, at 100% and 200% zoom, checking text contrast, field edges, target sizes, that every control has a name, and that nothing is cut off.
Tell us
If something in the app, the Team inbox or the website is hard to use, or you need any of our documents in another format, write to info@astrolinks.org. Say what you were trying to do and what got in the way. We answer as soon as we can, and in the meantime we find another way to get you what you need.
